Bio

Dr. Denis McNamara is an architectural historian and theologian specializing in the intersection of sacred art, architecture and liturgical theology. With over 25 years of university teaching experience, he makes a specialty of bridging the gap between the Church’s great artistic tradition and the documents of the Second Vatican Council.

As an author of four books and dozens of articles, he has done groundbreaking research on scriptural understandings of architecture and the sacramental meaning of the classical architectural tradition.

As a writer, lecturer, educator, podcast host and consultant, Dr. McNamara has helped reconnect traditional church architecture to its biblical and theological underpinnings, and continues to influence contemporary discussions on sacred art, beauty and liturgical theology.
